Forgiveness

When I give my testimony of how I went through brokenness, then surrendered my life to God. Many people ask me if I forgave Michael Hayes for what he did to me. Well part of surrender is forgiveness. I had to let go of the hatred in my heart in order to let Jesus in! Another bondage was the grief I had to let go of as well. You see Psalms 51:16-17 says:

"For You do not delight in sacrifices, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offerings. The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit; A broken and humbled heart, O God, You will not despise".

God desires us to be broken. Because only then can we truly surrender all of ourselves to him. Most people think humbleness means gentle, lowly, or modest. That's not what humble is. Look at 1 Peter 5:6-7 and see what Humble really is:

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your cares upon him; for he cares for you".

Did you see that? To humble yourself means to cast all your cares over on him... That is what I did at my surrender, I gave every care I had; my dreams, my family, grief, post traumatic stress disorder, hatred toward Michael Hayes & most importantly my life. What are your thoughts on forgiveness? Do you have a testimony as well? Or do you need help letting go? The blog is open, let us know your thoughts.

  1. to totally surrender it and feel the weight lifted entirely is amazing! I want to know if you totally surrender and put your faith and trust in the Lord to take over the situation in your life that has burdened you down, do you need to continually pray daily for this need in your life? Once it's surrendered then what? How do you just leave it there without picking it back up? I think a lot of us struggle with "keeping it at His feet".

  2. The key is Love! If you really know, and I mean really KNOW how much God Loves you. You will not pick it up again. Read the verse below slowly to gain understanding of what Love really is. (pay special attention to the last verse). That's the one which opened my eyes!

1Jn 4:9 By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.
1Jn 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1Jn 4:12 No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.
1Jn 4:13 By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
1Jn 4:14 We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
1Jn 4:15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
1Jn 4:16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
1Jn 4:17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.
1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
1Jn 4:19 We love, because He first loved us.

1Jn 4:20 If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

Read that last verse again. When I read it, this is what I heard. You can't Love the Creator and hate his creation!

The last verse in that chapter reads:
1Jn 4:21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.

That commandment is recorded in three of the Gospels. Mat 22:37-39, Mar 12:30-31, & Luk 10:27

All three say neighbor, that’s everyone! For me that included Michael Hayes. If I Forgave him and cast that care over on the Lord, then picked it back up again, then my flesh is over ruling my spirit. Forgiveness is a spiritual act of Love done in Faith! Once you have said I Forgive you, It's done! The problem is when the next day comes and you run into that person your flesh starts telling you there is still discontent here! Well you walk by faith not by site! You’re not supposed to moved by what you feel, you don't live by what you see. Your flesh just hasn't caught up with your faith yet. That’s all. It's like having an illness. You go to the doctor you take your antibiotic, and in 24 hrs you’re not contagious any more! But you still feel contagious because your coughing, sore throat, runny nose is still there! The illness is gone, but the symptoms last a few days longer. Well in faith that person is forgiven but the symptoms of your flesh last a little longer! So when Satan starts tempting you with your fleshly feelings just say NO, I cast that care over on the lord if you want to talk about it go talk to Him, because I have forgiven that person!

Jas 4:6 But God gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the HUMBLE."
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Did you see that? The Devil flees from the HUMBLE! Do you remember what true Humbleness is?
